Meet William Schrettner DPT, Founder of Uplift Physical Therapy

I’m a proud New York City native, born and raised in Queens, and have called this city home my entire life. My journey into physical therapy began after sustaining a sports injury that required shoulder surgery — an experience that introduced me to the power of rehabilitation and inspired my passion for helping others move and feel their best.

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Long Island University, and after several years working in larger, fast-paced clinics treating multiple patients at once, I realized something was missing. I saw how often people were rushed through care, and I wanted to build something different — a place where every session is personal, intentional, and centered on you.

At Uplift Physical Therapy, my mission is to give patients the time and attention they truly deserve. I take pride in getting to know each person beyond their diagnosis — understanding their goals, lifestyle, and what “feeling better” really means to them. Every treatment plan is individualized, every session is one-on-one, and every small milestone is celebrated.

 

What drives me most is seeing people regain confidence in their movement and return to the activities that bring them joy. As both a clinician and someone who’s been through the rehab process, I know how transformative it can be when care is personal, focused, and uplifting.

Outside of the clinic, I’m a proud husband and father to two amazing kids — a son and a daughter — who constantly remind me of the importance of balance, patience, and finding joy in everyday movement.

At Uplift Physical Therapy, our goal is simple: to help you move better, feel stronger, and return to the life you want to live. Every session is one-on-one and fully individualized, because no two people, injuries, or recoveries are the same.

 

I believe meaningful recovery starts with understanding the full picture — not just where it hurts, but why symptoms developed in the first place. Taking the time to identify contributing factors allows treatment to go beyond short-term relief and create lasting change.

Recovery is more than healing tissue. It’s about rebuilding confidence, independence, and trust in your body. Whether you’re returning to sport, recovering from surgery, or trying to move through daily life without pain, my goal is to guide you with focused care that supports long-term movement and overall well-being.
